Joyce J. DeMott, age 66 of Stanwood, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer for the past 5 years. She was born July 21, 1942 to Dorsey and Helen (Sadtler) Griffith. Joyce was born and raised in Maryland. She is survived by her husband, Douglas DeMott of Stanwood 2 daughters; Selena Layow of Massachusetts Lore (Spike) Traynor of Paris, 4 sons; Tony (Joan) Reed of Maryland, Paul Reed of West Virginia, Tim (Karen) Davidson of Detroit, Ron Davidson of Big Rapids, 3 step-children; Ron (Kathy) DeMott of Mecosta, Terri DeMott and Dave DeMott both of Stanwood, 12 grandchildren,3 great-grandchildren, Half brother; Jerry Horman of Maryland and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22nd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Bill Routley officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Memorial donations in Joyce's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
