Joseph C. Hayes, age 68 of Paris, formerly of Ann Arbor, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Mecosta County Medical Center following a long illness. He was born September 16, 1938 in Highland Park to Jesse V. and Florence E. (McKinley) Hayes. Joe made his home in the Ann Arbor area most of his life where he owned and operated a construction company for 48 years. In 1974 he purchased a farm in the Paris area and has lived there for the past 9 years. Joe was a member of the U. U. Church of Ann Arbor. He is survived by his wife, Denise, three sons; Matt, Denver and Vincent Hayes all of Paris, three step-children; Jared McDanield of Clare Trenton and Shalena McDanield both of Paris, a sister: Nadine (Jim) Killion of Tennessee, and five nephews. Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Jo Hayes and a brother, Kenneth Hayes. Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to express their sympathies to the family may do so at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Wednesday, July 4th from, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon).
