Jon Francis Doorenbos, age 78 of Stanwood, passed away unexpectedly, November 5, 2019. He was born on July 11, 1941, in Grand Rapids, the oldest child of Frank and Ruth (Knoph) Doorenbos. Jon graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1959 and attended church at Holy Trinity for numerous years. Jon retired from Steelcase and made his home on the river in Stanwood in the late 90's where he was known as "the old man on the river".
Jon was a member of the Big Rapids AmVets, where he was proud to serve on the Honor Guard and Stanwood Eagles. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed camping when he was younger. Jon spent his mornings in devotion with the word of God and loved fishing.
