Obituary

John "Gary" Trumble, age 81 of Grant Center, passed away peacefully, Monday November 18, 2013 at his home. He was born May 31, 1932 in Grand Rapids. Gary graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1950. He married Margaret "Louise" McGrougan on January 12, 1952 and they made their home in the Grant Center area. Gary will be remembered for inventing and patenting the "GazCo" a pressurized attachment for use on Coleman lanterns. He worked at several local businesses until establishing and operating "Gary Trumbles Rent-L-Center" headquartered in Reed City. Throughout the years that business grew into several locations in lower Michigan and services expanded to include rentals of electronics, video movies and home furnishing. Gary also sold real estate in his later years. He was an avid skeet shooter, hunter and fisherman. Gary was a computer hobbyist, owning one of the earliest Apple Computers. He was a member of Moose Lodge #705 in Reed City. Gary is survived by his wife of 61 years Margaret "Louise" Trumble; six children, John Trumble of Reed City, Debra Kelly, Julie (Paul) Armstrong, Cindy Trumble, Jeff Trumble (Diana Davidson) all of Big Rapids, Jason (Jamin Crockett) Trumble of Grand Rapids; 11 grandchildren, John, Amy, Brenda, Nikki, Paul, Tanya, Aaron, Katheryn, Kurtice, Kyle, Sara; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis (Edna) Pion of Evart, Larry Pion of Big Rapids and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Helen and her husband, Charles Pion, his father, John Trumble and a sister, Sandra Otto. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend David Jewell officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, November 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at South Grant Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Gary's name may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
