John P. Loomis age 62, passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at his home in Mount Pleasant. He was born July 12, 1958 in Mount Pleasant, the son of Charles and Donna (Ashbaugh) Loomis. John was a heavy equipment operator for McGuirk Sand & Gravel for over 15 years. He was always a big jokester that enjoyed dancing, playing cards and horseshoes. John liked to hunt deer and look for morels with his family. He liked gardening and canning his harvest with his wife. Most of all, John loved to spend time with his family with an Old Milwaukee Light can in his hand. John is survived by his wife of 21 years Lori (Craven) Loomis; children, Johnny (Chloe Rivard) Loomis, Jr., Angela (Ben Gilmer) Loomis, Amanda (Truscott Smith) Loomis, Jeremy Loomis, Jaden Culhane, Jessica (Fred Todd) Abbott, Melinda (Jeremy Carr) Abbott, Brittany (David Culhane) Abbott, Christie (Jimmy Hoffmeyer) Abbott; siblings, Lonnie (Kathy) Loomis, Connie (Dave) Dutcher, Dannie (Cathy) Loomis, Donnie (Laura) Loomis, Jennie (Brian Strouse) Wernette, Pennie (Joe) Tennis; brothers-in-law, Tom (Diane) Craven, Bill Craven, Mike (Julie) Craven; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Rick Stanton, Rev) Cook, Connie (Rick Sandel) Rogers, Julie (Artie Weathers) Parker; grandchildren, Josh, Jace, Wesley, Valerie, and Vera Loomis, Havyn Carson, Mahleigha, Jurnee, and Draya Hoffmeyer, Hazel Abbott, August, Maurice, and Gabriella Clark, Corey and Autumn Malley, Curtis and Ethan Carr, Fred Todd Jr., and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronnie and Chuckie; and sister, Bonnie. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Weidman Community Building, 5918 West Bridge St., Weidman, MI 48893 from 12-4 p.m. Social distancing and masks are required.
