John L. Sturm IV age 74, of Hersey died Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was born August 28, 1947 in Detroit, the son of John and Georgia (Clark) Sturm. John graduated from East Aurora High School in 1966 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967. After being honorably discharged John earned his bachelors in business in 1971 from Central Michigan University. He enjoyed rooting for Central Michigan Chippewa football, Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions. John loved mowing his lawn, walking, and reading many different newspapers. John enjoyed playing rummikub with his family; winning many of the games. He was a 33-year friend to Bill W. and Dr. Bob. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Sherrel "Sherry" of Hersey; siblings, Dianne (Doug) Lashbrook of Bloomfield Hills, Craig Sturm of Royal Oak; mother-in-law, Mary Anderson; brothers-in-law, Andrew "Andy" (Mericel) Anderson, Albert "Ted" (Renate) Anderson, Kenneth "Ken" (Dawn) Anderson; many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Katherine and Carlton Clark, John and Margaret Sturm; father-in-law, Albert T. Anderson; sister-in-law, Barbara J. Anderson. Memorial contributions may be made in Johns name to Church of the First Born in Reed City or a charity of your choice. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Oakdale Cemetery in Hersey. Care and arrangements by Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
