John P. Gilman, age 64 of Morley, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home. He was born September 4, 1951 in Grand Rapids, the son of Robert and Pauline (Stoye) Gilman. John was raised in Jenison and graduated from Grandville High School. He was employed by GM before he began his truck driving career with Landstar Ranger. John enjoyed the outdoors, hot rods, and building anything from cars to houses. He was an avid motorcyclist and a Nascar fan. John is survived by his beloved companion and fiance of ten years, Cheryl Sanders of Morley; daughter, Sarah Gilman of Washington; Cheryls children, Keith Sanders of Hawaii, Matthew Sanders of Missouri, and Stephen (Tiffany) Sanders of Texas; Cheryls grandchildren, Aubre and Kailee; Cheryls parents, Billy and Elizabeth Sanders of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. There are no services planned at this time. Memorial contributions in Johns name may be given to his family.
