John J. Faris age 52 of Big Rapids, passed away October 10, 2010 at his home. He was born on January 9, 1958 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Carole Faris. John was honorably discharged from the United States Army and was proud to serve his country. He was a GIA grad in gemology and enjoyed coin collecting. If you knew John you knew he liked to be the head honcho and maintain what was happening with the family he cherished. He adored his children and grandchildren who will continue to hold the memories they have of him close to their hearts. John is survived by his wife and best friend Laurie of Big Rapids; two daughters, Jennifer (Robert) Griffith of Big Rapids and Jackie Faris of Manassas, Virginia; three grandchildren, Stephanie Enos, Nicole Griffith and Samantha Griffith; his mother Carole Dwyer of Hersey, two step-brothers, one step-sister, several grand-dogs, nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his step-father Donald J. Dwyer III and step-sister, Kathy (Dwyer) Vallee. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Chase Twp. Cemetery. Memorial donations in John's name can be made to the University of Michigan Lung Transplant Fund.
