John Richard Blevens, affectionately known as "Dick," age 88, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Gallup, New Mexico on December 12, 1934, the son of Shirley and Isabell (Mattox) Blevens. Dick graduated from Farwell High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. His naval adventures took him all over the world and allowed him to experience several far-off places, such as Spain, China, Japan, Greece, and France. Once he completed his naval service, he returned to his home in the city of Farwell. Dick enrolled at Ferris State University where he earned his degree as an Auto Body Technician. Dick spent most of his carrier as a "body man," as he called it. Dick loved to spend time in nature and outdoors, one would often find him fishing, especially for trout. Dick enjoyed hunting, as well as just spending time walking through the woods. His love for nature and the outdoors is a treasured gift that he passed on to his son and even his grandchildren. Dick was a collector of John Deere 2-cylinder tractors. He spent many hours with his son tinkering on their newest tractor, which was normally brought home in several different pieces. In his later years he enjoyed taking his grandchildren to steam engine shows which were appreciated by all who attended. His heart was full of love and he cared deeply for his family, even though he was born a prankster who refined his talents with age. Dick always had a joke to share, smile to give, and loved to laugh. Dick is survived by his son, Richard Blevens of Barryton; Dicks life partner Kathrine Crim; grandchildren, Lanette Lynn (Christopher) Jamieson, Maggie Mae Blevens, Ethan Richard Blevens; great granddaughter, Isabell Mae Jamieson; along with many other dear friends and family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Shirley and Isabell Mary Blevens; sister Marcelle Haag. Cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time.
