John Benson, age 64 of Morley, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008 at home. He was born December 16, 1943 to Marshall and Grace (Gerst) Benson. John grew up in Stanwood and had lived his entire adult life in the Morley area. He worked as a foreman at Doyle Forest Products for many years. John was a member of a large and loving family and will be forever missed by them all, including his four children; Joe (Peggy) Benson, Anna Benson, and Dean Benson all of Morley and John H. Benson Jr. of Grand Rapids, nine Grandsons, one granddaughter, four brothers; Floyd (Carolyn) Benson of Sparta, Lawrence (Jean) Benson of Morley, Earnest Benson of Stanwood, Milton (Judy) Benson of Stanwood, two sisters; Louise (John) Nelson of Morley and Laura Preston of Conklin and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Jim Benson, a sister; Alice Benson and two brothers; Billy and Leo Benson. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2nd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Philip Bongard officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Spring interment will be at Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley.
