Obituary

John J. Batchelder, age 67, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at his home in Chippewa Lake. He was born April 17, 1955 in Grand Rapids, the son of John and Patricia (Clark) Batchelder. John graduated from Sparta High school in 1973 and was briefly employed by a roofing company before becoming a foreman for Pioneer Construction. In the early 1980s he started his own business, Batchelders Carpentry, which he pursued for the rest of his career. His passion in life was woodworking. He was very meticulous with every custom woodworking job he took on. John was a simple man who found pleasure in the small things like doing body work on cars, tinkering in his workshop and making wooden games/toys. John was active within the local community. He loved getting his hands on various projects around town, big or small. He liked listening to classic country and bluegrass music. In previous years he enjoyed doing hog roasts and barbecues and he sure loved his sweets. John is lovingly remembered by his significant other of 8 years, Kimberley Roebuck; children, Nicholas (Alison) Batchelder, Jared (Brooke) Batchelder, Jaclyn (Dustin) Brown, Lynn (fiance Bryan) Batchelder; grandchildren Lily and Logan Batchelder, Landen and Levi Batchelder, Piper and Thorin Brown; father, John (Jeanie) Batchelder; siblings, Steve (Debby) Batchelder, Diana Batchelder, Jane (Brian) Tagg, Jeff (Marilyn) Batchelder; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patricia Batchelder. There are no services scheduled at this time. Please leave a condolence, memory, and picture at www.daggettgilbertfuneralhome.com
