Obituary

Joaquin C. Mayoral Jr., age 95 formerly of White Cloud, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Curry House in Cadillac, with beloved family at his side. He was born September 15, 1922 in Ponce, Puerto Rico the son of Joaquin and Marcolina (Rosado) Mayoral. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during World War II. A loyal and grateful American, Joaquin remained in the Air National Guard where he was a pilot on both airplanes and helicopters. He retired from the military as a Captain after 32 years of service. Joaquin married Patria Fraticelli on January 1, 1949 at the Ascension Church in New York City. They moved to Chicago and lived there for nearly 30 years. Joaquin had worked for the United States Postal Service for 29 years. The family enjoyed camping together. When on vacation discovered beautiful White Cloud, MI where they happily retired. Joaquin is survived by his two sons, Joaquin III (Marcia ne McGuire) Mayoral of Downers Grove, IL, Ramon (Bonita ne Barfield) Mayoral of Manton; eight grandchildren, Clint R. (Lauren ne Bramos) Mayoral, Heather Lea (Stephen) Horvath, Rebecca Anne (Isaac) Mitchell, Nicholas Joaquin (Amy ne Suiter) Mayoral, Anna Alina (Piotr) Borzuta, Donovan Jack Mayoral, Peter Charles Mayoral, Lili Phyllis Mayoral; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew Micah Horvath, Malachi Joaquin Horvath, Caden Ramon Mitchell, Gavin Ezekiel Mitchell, Alexander James Mayoral, Christopher Michael Mayoral, Nicholas Ramon Mayoral; many nieces and nephews. Joaquin was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Patria, a brother, Jorge Mayoral and a sister, Aminta Irizarry. Private family services will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements were entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Joaquins name may be made to Child Impact International, a charity he supported. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Curry House Assisted Living in Cadillac for the tender loving care that was consistently given to Joaquin.
