IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanna L.
Humphrey
December 26, 1945 – June 25, 2025
Joanna Lee Humphrey, age 79, of Remus, passed away on June 25, 2025.
Born to J and Irene Slanker in Charlotte, Joanna lived a full and vibrant life defined by love, family, and adventure. She married the love of her life, Gerald Humphrey, on September 24, 1966, beginning a marriage filled with laughter, devotion, and countless memories — including 22 years and over a million miles traveled together in their RV.
Joanna, lovingly known as Grandma, GG or JoNanna by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was the heart of her family. She had a deep love for the water and delighted in swimming, fishing, and playing with her grandkids. She was known for speaking her mind, engaging in spirited debates, and always keeping things lively. Her home was a gathering place for large family dinners, where she created meaningful memories with the ones she loved most.
Joanna shared a special bond with her beloved pup, Buddy. She had a sharp eye for treasures, frequently exploring yard sales, auctions, and antique shops. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, and adding her creative touch to everything she did. Her thoughtful nature was felt by many through her tradition of calling and singing "Happy Birthday" to family and friends each year.
Joanna is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald; her children, Ben Humphrey, Tom Chitwood (Tanya), Michelle Place (Eric), Joe Humphrey (Brenda), and Gerilee Humphrey (James Riepma); grandchildren, Noah, Quinn, Georgia, Max, Allison, Beau, Cellsey (Matt), Justin, Casey, Steven, Aliya, Kayla, Tommy, and Matthew; great-grandson, Jaxon; brother-in-law, Tom Humphrey; neice, Shawn (Larry) and nephew Shane (April).
She was preceded in death by her parents J and Irene; her in-laws, June and Lawrence Humphrey; and her sister-in-law, Kay Humphrey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at South Park in Lake Isabella, MI. Friends and family are warmly invited to come together to honor Joanna's memory with food, laughter, and shared stories.
