Joann Marie Lackie, age 58 of Barryton went to be with the Lord peacefully, Friday, November 17, 2006 after battling cancer. She was born April 20, 1948 in Bay City, MI the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Hanis) Wells. Joann married Larry Lackie September 4, 1971 in Bay City. They made their home in Bay City, moving to Barryton in 1973. Joann was a worker: she was the former secretary for Delta College, Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mount Pleasant and the Blue Cross office in Mt. Pleasant. When her children were born she was a stay at home mom, helping to run the General Party Store at Lackie's Birch Haven for 11 years. Most recently she was a Bank Teller for Old Kent (currently Fifth Third) Bank. She retired in September after 16 years. Joann enjoyed going on cruises, collecting angels and volunteering as treasurer of the Birch Haven Association. She was a dedicated member of the Barryton Church of Christ. Joann is survived by her loving husband of 35 years Larry of Barryton, loving daughters Lorie (Kevin) Behrens of Tiskilwa, IL and Amanda Lackie of Grand Rapids, two grand daughters Kora and Mary Behrens, who she loved more than words can say and one brother that will miss her dearly, David (Bonnie) Wells of Fontana, CA. Joann is also survived by her in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will greet friends Saturday, November 18, 2006 from 1:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Barryton Church of Christ. Funeral service will be held 2:00p.m. Sunday at the Barryton Church of Christ with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. She will be laid to rest at Strong Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Joann's name may be made to the Barryton Church of Christ.
