JoAnn Boerma Bartell, age 72 of Rodney, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at her home. She was born January 5, 1939 in Remus, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Fountain) Randall. JoAnn will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She worked her entire life raising her family and also held several local jobs outside the home. Most recently she had worked at Wolverine World Wide until her health failed. JoAnn is survived by; her husband Donald Bartell of Rodney; seven children; Shania (Paul) Gomber-Wilson of Rodney, Merrie (John) Isanhart-Lloyd-Lange of Mecosta, Gordan Boerma of Big Rapids, Tina (John) Simon of Remus, Mark Boerma of Mecosta, Larry Boerma of Rodney, Kono (Michelle) Boerma of Rodney; 24 grandchildren, Lane Gomber, Randy Gomber, Trent Wilson, Tonya Tacy, Joshua Wilson, Nicholas Lloyd, Stephanie Lloyd, Shawn Lloyd, Ashley Swartwood, Travis Swartwood, Dale Boerma, Tiffany Rop, Bobbi Jo Boerma, Chad Boerma, Jerome Reifler, Ezekiel D. Hartman, Peter Doerr, Justin Lloyd Boerma, Nathan Boerma, Zachary Boerma, Amanda Boerma, Tony Lee Albright Boerma, Todd Michael Boerma, Tyler Thomas "TT" Boerma; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonita VanAlstine of Stanwood, Sharon Lintemuth of Mecosta; four brothers, Ronald "Ike" (Nancy) Randall of Remus, Lewis (Linda) Randall of Mecosta, James (Nancy) Randall of Paris, John (Charlotte) Melson of California, many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Besides her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Russell Boerma; son, Randall Melbourne Boerma; two grandsons, Christofer Michael Isanhart, Chad Philip Boerma; great-grandson, Christopher Reifler and step-father, William Melson. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in JoAnn's name may be given to her family.
