Joan Marie Wible Fountain, age 74 of Big Rapids, passed away, Friday, February 27, 2009. She was born at home in Grand Rapids on October 3, 1934 to Lawrence and Anna (Rees) Eastway. Joan lived in Grand Rapids for many years and moved to Big Rapids to make her home over 30 years ago. She made many dear friends in Big Rapids especially through her memberships in the Eagles Aerie #2535 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post #98 Ladies Auxiliary both of Big Rapids. She will always be remembered by her family and friends as a sweet, kind and gentle woman. Joan is survived by her former husband and beloved companion, Garold "Jerry" Wible of Big Rapids; 5 children, Ken (Marlene Clinansmith) Wible of Grand Rapids, Doug (Dixie) Wible of Cadillac, Bryan (Becky) Wible of Grand Rapids, Jerry (Renae) Wible of Sparta, Tad Wible of Big Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 6 step-children, Mary (Frank) Larocue of California, Michael (Roberta) Fountain of Cedar Springs, Roxanne (Wayne) Jankowski of Stanwood, Tammy (Roger) Carroll of Big Rapids, Christopher Fountain of Kalamazoo; 13 step-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandchild; 6 siblings, Paul Warner of Florida, Jean Phillips of Big Rapids, Louise (Keith) Christensen of Coral, Patricia (Kirt) Denman of Grand Rapids, Sharon (Gary) Wortman of Jenison, Bonnie (Frank) Spieker of Oklahoma; 2 sisters-in-law, Nancy Eastway of Cadillac, and Shirley Eastway Hojinacki of LeRoy and 29 nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband Melvin "Bud" Fountain; her son Rick Wible; a step-daughter, Diane Fountain; 3 brothers, Richard Eastway, Adelbert Eastway and Louie Eastway. Funeral services will take place 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3rd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends prior to services on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until services at 5:00 p.m.
