Jerry T. Matthews, 85, of Mecosta, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025.

He was born on August 28, 1939, in Canton, Mississippi, the son of Hestell and Evelena (Tucker) Matthews. In 1970, Jerry married his soulmate, Elizabeth Thomas, and together they shared 54 years of love and beautiful shared memories.

Jerry was a hardworking family man—strong, courageous, and fiercely protective of those he loved. He loved listening to his favorite Blues music, especially BB King. He was known for his unwavering commitment to family and his deep sense of responsibility and care. His strength and resilience served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Matthews; Son: Herman Page; Grandchildren: Eric (Kelly) Battleshaw and Angela (Kevin) Page-Zuker; Great-grandchildren: Parker, Marcus, Terrell, Donovan, Braylon, and Garrison; Siblings: Two sisters and three brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hestell and Evelena Matthews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Homes, Barryton, with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
