Gerald "Jerry" and Alice Jordan, ages 72 and 78, of Barryton passed away together in an automobile accident on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Jerry was born on December 12, 1941 in Greenville, the son of Clayton and Eileen (Powers) Jordan. Alice was born February 20, 1935 in Muskegon, the daughter of Herbert and Ida (Clark) Cornell. Jerry graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1960 and Alice graduated from Reed City High School. They were married on Christmas Eve in 1961 in Evart and together they raised their family in Barryton. Jerry and Alice were members of the Faith United Methodist Church in Barryton. Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Appliance. He was a 40 year volunteer firefighter and had served as Chief of the Barryton Community Fire Department. Both Jerry and Alice were honorary lifetime members of the Barryton Fire Association. Jerry enjoyed working with computers and Alice enjoyed collecting lighthouses and was an animal expert. She would put her kids before anything else. They both loved spending time with their grandchildren and were highly devoted to their family. They are survived by their children, Jerry (Joy) Jordan of Barryton and Debra (Harold) Huff of Barryton; three grandchildren, Parmer, Jordan and Jeffrey; a step-granddaughter, Ashley; Jerry's sister, Carol (Russ) Jordan-Earle of Barryton; Alice's brothers, Wayne (Barbara) Cornell of Reed City and Ron Cornell of Evart; and many nieces and nephews. Both of their parents have preceded them in death. Cremation has taken place and the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
