Obituary

Jeremy Patrick Simon loving son, brother and friend passed away suddenly early December 27th, at the age of 43. "Chops" as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was a graduate of Chippewa Hills High School and Lansing Community College. He worked as a systems analyst for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MI. He served as a Big Brother to Justin whom he considered an adopted son. He marched for equal rights and volunteered when he could. He tried to learn about other cultures and embraced trying to understand traditions and people that were greatly different from him. He was passionate about computers, loved politics and gaming, hunting, home cooked meals and his work. While he lived in Ferndale his heart belonged to Remus. Chops loved the country air and the dirt roads that brought him home to his favorite place on earth, the family farm. He was looking forward to moving back to the area in a few short weeks. Chops was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He would do anything for anyone-family, friend or stranger. He loved taking care of his sister and her fat dog Parker. Chops loved to talk about the stars around the fire with his sister Doni and match sarcasms with his brother Don. Whether it was cooking pigs with Kevin & Bruce, doing countless projects with his dad or working the beer tent beside his cousin Kelly, you could count on him to work happy and hard. Chops told long stories and terrible jokes. He did not have a mean bone in his body. He was sensitive and kind, smart and goofy. His easy smile, booming laugh and big bear hugs were unforgettable. Anyone who met Chops was better for doing so. We are so heartbroken that the world has lost such a good, loving man. Jeremy is survived by his parents Patrick & Sheral (Rushlow) Simon, sister Brandy Simon, sister Doni & Christine (Jensen) Simon, brother Don & Alisen (Lammers) Santer, nephews Ridley, Jake, & Jeff Santer, Uncle Dan & Aunt Brenda (Oliver) Rushlow, Aunt Darlene (Simon) Warner, Aunt Margaret (Mayer) Simon and countless cousins and friends. Due to Covid-19, no services will be held at this time. Chops will be cremated and his ashes spread at the farm. A memorial is planned for late summer. Jeremy truly cared about his community.
