Obituary

Jene "Bud" Ray Spaugh, age 80, of Chippewa Lake, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sharon; his three daughters, Linda (Robert) Rosinski, Laurie (Joe) Bentley & Lisa Spaugh; his grandchildren, Megan (Samantha) Sinclair, Nicholas (Brooke) Bentley, & Andrea Bentley; his great-grandchildren, Eloise & Landon Bentley; his two sisters, Jeanette Wollert & Vicki (Seth) Coon; his brothers-in-law, David (Julia) Hahn & Wayne Hahn; and his many loving nieces & nephews. Bud was born on August 20th, 1942, in Wayland, MI, the son of Nolla "Tex" and Hildegard (Jansen) Spaugh. He met the love of his life, Sharon Hahn, in 1960 at the Sweet Note Dance Hall in Chippewa Lake, they were married on October 21, 1961, sharing sixty-one wonderful years together. They were able to buy land and with unrelenting determination built the family home with their own loving hands and a lifetime of memories. A tireless dedicated worker, Bud was a skilled toolmaker and mechanic. He worked as a Volkswagen mechanic, then at Hanchett Mfg. and retired from Federal Screw Works. He was also a marine patrol officer for Mecosta County Sheriff Dept. for a few years while also working his regular job. A skilled hunter, marksman, fisherman and trapper, Bud managed to squeeze these into his busy life, and he loved to share his knowledge and skill with his family and friends. He also loved watching his family grow and take on their own adventures. Bud had a generous heart and a giving spirit; he would often be found lending a helping hand or offering the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Nolla "Tex" & Hildegard Spaugh; siblings, James Spaugh, Lela Graham, Richard Spaugh, Judith Overmeyer, Beatrice Smith & Treva Herring; sister-in-law, Mary Spaugh; brothers-in-law, James Wollert & Terry Overmeyer; and brother-in-law, Elwin Hahn. Cremation has taken place and per Buds wishes, the family will not be holding a funeral or burial service; his family and dear friends celebrated his life while he was still with us. In lieu of gifts, please donate to Gods Helping Hands of Mecosta County, 8760 50ths Ave., Remus, MI 49340, or like Bud would say "keep your money & take care of your family." Thank you all for the kind words & support that have been coming in daily. Share a memory, photo, or leave a condolence for the family at daggettgilbertfuneralhome.com
