Jeffrey Allen Nowak, age 62 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly, Friday December 3, 2010. He was born November 27, 1948 in Kalamazoo the son of Francis A. and Dorothy H. (Smith) Nowak. Jeff graduated from Plainwell High School in 1966. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps after serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. While in the service Jeff worked as an air craft electrician. Following his discharge, Jeff was employed as a journeyman welder in shipyards on the west coast; he also had owned and operated his own business. Jeff had been a member of the American Legion and the Am Vets. He was a talented cook and was known to many as a coffee connoisseur. He is survived by 2 brothers, Jim and Jerry; 2 sisters, Pat and Peggy and several nieces and nephews. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI at a later date.
