Jeffrey E. Knefely, age 42 of Rodney, formerly of the Coloma area, passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born October 31, 1964 in St. Joseph, the only child of Jimmie and Dorothy (Maddox) Knefely. Jeff lived most of his life in the Coloma area. He owned and operated Knefely's Carpet Cleaning and Chez Du Lac Motel, both in Coloma. He worked loss prevention for Jewel Food's Stores in Benton Harbor and security for D. C. Cook Power in Bridgman. Jeff later served as a proud corrections officer at K-PEP in Benton Harbor and at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, IN. and had worked for Ricks Transportation. Jeff is survived by his three loving children; Amanda L. (Guy Schwach) of Chase Jimmie A. Knefely and Stephen J. Knefely both of Rodney, three grandchildren; Kelsey, Hayden and one due to arrive in February 2008. Jeff is also survived by members of his extended family, many dear friends and two former wives; Elizabeth S. Witham of Stanwood And Virginia Maneke of Rodney He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21st at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Burial will be at the Chase Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 20th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In accordance with Jeff's direction, the family strongly requests no flowers; however memorial contributions may be given to his family.
