Jean O. Pruden, age 90 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017. She was born May 24, 1926 in Elmira, New York, the daughter of Lawrence and Alverta (Mansuy) ODaniels. She married James Pruden on August 3rd 1946 in Elmira New York and together they raised their family in Madison Heights. Jean was employed by Detmers Equipment as a secretary until she retired. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona after James passed in 1984 to live near her sister, Mary Barton. Jean later moved to Big Rapids to be close to family when her sister passed. She became a member of St. Mary/St. Paul Catholic Parish. Jean was talented at crocheting and knitting; making outfits, afghans, and baby blankets. She is survived by two children, Lawrence (Tammy) Pruden and Suzanne Pruden, both of Big Rapids; two grandchildren, Andrew Kehr and Abigail Pruden; niece, Kathy Hopkins; and nephew, Mark Hopkins. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Jean will be laid to rest at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
