Jean Ruth Nichols (81) of Remus, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Isabella Co. Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant. She was born August 25, 1925 in England to Sidney and Ruth (Lewis) Smith. Jean married Lawrence V. Nichols in 1943 in London, England where they made their home until moving to Remus, Michigan in 1973. Jean was a nurse for many years working at Kelsey Memorial Hospital in Lakeview. She enjoyed being a caregiver so much she operated her own Adult Foster Care Home for many years. She is survived her loving family; son Carl of Morley and his children Vince, Jamie, Mark (Tonya)and great grandchildren; Jerico, Kristen and Riley, son Matthew of Winter Haven, Fla. son David of Winter Haven, Fla. and his children; Jacqueline, Jacian and Kendall,son Scott (Mary) of Shepherd and their children Amber, Dakota, Adam and Great granddaughter Kadence, Sister-in-law: Fredina (Patrick) Keis of Independence, Iowa and one nephew David Smith of London. Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 1995 and her brother and his wife Sidney (Lilley) Smith.
