Jean M. Benson, (Stenberg), of Morley, was bron on January 13, 1938, to John and Myrtle Stenberg. She passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026.
Jean met and married the love of her life, Lawrence Edward Benson, and together they shared 66 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, love, and devotion.
She is survived by her children, Nelda Young (Keith), Gary Benson (Rachael), and Eilene Edwards; her grandchildren, Justin Beemer, Jenna Dover, Christopher Benson, Noel Jachim, Jesse Benson, Ryan Edwards, and Luke Edwards; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Eunice Bitner, Carolyn Benson, Roger Stenberg, John Stenberg, Sr., and Nancy Gehring.
Jean was primarily a devoted stay-at-home mother who found great joy in caring for her family. She loved tending to her flower and vegeteble gardens and took pride in her canning, providing for her family with care and dedication. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing, and one of her proudest accomplishments was crafting a beautiful wedding dress.
While her chidlren were in school, Jean was an active presence in their lives, often volunteering as a chaperone on school field trips. In later years, she cherished her role as a grandmother, spending countless hours caring for and nurturing her grandchildren. She loved reading with them, often curled up together with a book, and enjoyed taking walks through the woods and down to the river.
Jean and Lawrence were devoted members of Bethel Lutheran Chruch in Howard City. Jean was especially active in church life, particiapating in the Ladies Guild, singing in the choir, and contributing to the Sewing Circle. She also served as a preschool aide and generously volunteered her time supporting both Weekday School and Vacation Bible School Programs.
She leaved behind a legacy of love, creativity, and gentle compassion that will not be forgotten.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, April 24, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Howard City. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 4-7:00 P.M. at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. She will be laid to rest at Aetna Township Cemtery, Morley.
