Jayne V. Hampel, age 94, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born September 11, 1915 in Big Rapids to Frank and Fern (Offterdinger) Duffey. She married Lawrence "Stub" Hampel on July 15, 1939 and they had 50 years of joy and happiness together. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a sister Delores. Jayne was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Chippewa Lake where they had resided for many years before moving to Big Rapids. She was a former 4-H leader and Brownie Scout leader. Jayne enjoyed working as a dental assistant for Dr. Y.O. Morris for many years in Big Rapids. She is survived by a caring and loving daughter Suzanne Closson of Big Rapids, sister Roma (Jack) Warmington of Naples, Fla., nephew Steve (Tammy) Warmington of Muskegon, nieces; Patti Warmington of Caledonia, Patricia (Ron) Little of Rodney, Conda (Jerry) Garner of Big Rapids and several great nieces and nephews. Memorial donations in Jayne's name may be given to the Mecosta County Medical Center Foundation. Envelopes can be picked up at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home where cremation was entrusted. Following Jayne's wishes there be a private memorial service at a later date.
