Jay Lyle Edgerly, 67, of Morley passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 in Grand Rapids. He was born on February 16, 1950, in Lakeview, Michigan, the only son of Jay Lyle "Pete" and Beatrice (Yanke) Edgerly. Jay was a lifelong resident of Morley. On, October 11, 1969 he married Sandra Kay Near in Morley. Jay was a heavy equipment operator and was employed at Gummer Peat Company in Lakeview until he retired.

When Jay was younger he enjoyed fishing, boating, waterskiing and hunting. He was a "get-r-done" kind of guy that was generally up by 6:00 a.m. He was stubborn, hilarious at times and had a sense of humor all his own. Jay looked forward to making homemade ice-cream, doing word search puzzles and putting together 1000 piece puzzles. He loved his tractors and was proud to own his dads 1947 John Deere.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife Sandra of Morley; children, Tammy and Stan Jackson of Reed City, Toni and Tom Johnson of Morley, Jason and Angela Edgerly of Morley; seven grandchildren, Seth and Sydney Jackson, Ashley and Damian Dewey, Dayne Edgerly , Karmin & Brooke Edgerly; one great-granddaughter, Paisleigh Shuck; four sisters, Alice (Brian) Kilbourne, Crystal (Dale Hess) Lane, Carolyn (Gary) Stout and Pauline Badeaux; one step-sister, June Stine; and several nieces, nephews and treasured friends.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Edgerly and Beatrice Winger; and a sister Nancy Ramsey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Frank Taylor officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28th at the funeral home. Interment will be at Boyd Cemetery.
