Janis K. Pardee, age 74 of Barryton, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

She was born February 4, 1948 in Eaton Rapids the daughter of Ray and Rosanna (Williams) Byron. Janis was raised by her grandparents in Mason, MI. She graduated from Mason High School in 1966. Janis married Harley Pardee on May 13, 1967 and they made their home in the Mason area until moving to Barryton in 1971. Janis was a busy mother of three. She tended a huge garden, canning all the produce for her family. For many years Janis volunteered her time and home as a designated food co-op drop site. She ordered the food, organized it for the families and managed the distribution. Janis also raised a variety of animals including; goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, pigs and horses. She worked with the Mecosta County 4-H and served 29 years on the Fork Township Fair Board. Janis was a member of the Pinegrove Church where she taught Sunday School. She loved to knit, making several sweaters, hats, mittens, socks and blankets for family and friends. Janis always had an open door for anyone needing a meal or goodnights sleep. She helped many throughout the years. Janis raised some wildlife through the years for DNR release.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Harley; three children, Eric Pardee of Pretty Lake, Everett (Lori) Pardee of Mobile, Alabama, Deanna (Cindy) Pardee of Hastings; eight grandchildren, Jesse (Taylor) Pardee of Barryton, Daniel Pardee of Barryton, Dylan Berryhill of Alpena, Zackery Bouck of Big Rapids, Kailey Pardee of Mobile, Alabama, Rebecka (Michael) Davis of Holt, Kristina Harrison of Oklahoma, Harley Joe Pardee of Evart and eight great-grandchildren, Kolden, Kaden, Madelyn, Makenzie, Ethan, Oliver, Bonnie and Liam.

A Celebration Life for Janis will take place Saturday, August 20th at the Fork Township Pavilion next to the Fork Township Community Center in Barryton. The Celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m. and continue into the evening with a dinner served about 3:00 p.m.
