Janice L. Howell, age 72 of Chippewa Lake, passed away peacefully, Thursday April 22, 2021 at home surrounded by her children.
She was born December 30, 1948 in Detroit the daughter of Lawrence and Gertrude (ne Wiggle) Plutschuck. Janice was a 1966 graduate of Osborn High School in Detroit. She married the love of her life Paul Howell on February 20, 1971 in Detroit.
They raised their family in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan where Janice was employed by Central Michigan University for 27 years, retiring in 2008. While at CMU she was an active member of the UAW serving as Secretary, District Representative, and the proud team leader in the 1981 Union Strike. Janice also served for 8 years on the Union Township Board of Trustees.
Janice moved to their lake house and made Chippewa Lake her permanent home in 2004. While living there, Janice enjoyed her retirement working in her flower garden and coming up with new projects to complete around the house. Fishing was a favorite pastime for her, she liked participating in fishing tournaments and hosting cookouts at the lake.
Most of all Janice loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren who she loved and adored.
She is survived by her three children; Heather Brisson of St. Johns, Michigan, Holly (Joseph) Curry of Joliet, Illinois, Daniel Howell of Chippewa Lake, Michigan, grandchildren; Connor, Cooper, Paul James "PJ", Able and Sahara; several nieces, nephews and her best friend, Connie Bunker of Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Howell in 2001, granddaughter, Madison in 2008, a daughter-in-law Amber Howell, her sister Norene, and her brothers - Larry and Bob.
Janice will be laid to rest with her husband Paul at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
Per Janices request there will not be a service, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Janices name may be made to the family or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
Cremation and care entrusted to the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
