Janet Elaine Stout, 78, passed away May 28, 2023, in Glens Falls, New York. She was previously from Big Rapids. She was born in Lakeview, MI on July 4, 1944 to D. Arnold and Hilda (Smith) Stout. She was raised on the family fruit farm in Stanwood with her brother, Duane and her sisters, Diane and Peggy. She attended Stanwood Elementary School and graduated from Morley-Stanwood High School, then attended Davenport College in Grand Rapids. She worked at Ferris State College until she started her family. She enjoyed all crafts, ceramics, reading, genealogy, Roy Rogers and the Florida Gators. She lived in Vermont, Florida and Pennsylvania and worked at various jobs in those states before returning to Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Duane Stout. Surviving are her first husband, Raymond (Janice) Steinke, second husband Donald LaCross, her daughters, Pam Stone of Boise, Idaho, Rene (Matt) Mello of Glens Falls, New York, and Amy (Dave) Blinson of Phoenix, Arizona. Grandchildren: Ava Stone, Tyler Mello, Haylee Mello and Katelynn Mello. Sisters; Diane (Dan) Herin, Peggy (Bill Picillo) McGuire and sister-in-law, Donna Stout One aunt, Winifred Rushmore of Morley, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with a procession immediately following to Higbee Cemetery in Morley.
