Janet K. Koehn, age 78 of Stanwood, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at her home. She was born September 14, 1940 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Sidney and Hazel (Albright) Baldwin. Janet married Robert Nanninga, her high school sweetheart, after going their separate ways for 17 years. Together they raised their family until he passed in 1989.

Janet retired from Ferris State University after many years of employment in the food service and janitorial departments. She attended the Rogers Heights Christian Church. Janet was a member of the Stanwood Buffalo Eagles 4360 and The Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, oil painting, and was proud of her achievement of professional shuffle board player which she earned during her winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. Janet appreciated the outdoors; flower gardening, boating, camping, sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallows, and listening to the whippoorwill.

She is survived by her significant other of 23 years, Larry Crooks of Stanwood; four children, Connie (William) Lenau of Petoskey, Steve Mursch of Howard City, Roger Nanninga of Manistee, and Jeff Nanninga (fiance Carla Towne) of Cedar Springs; four grandchildren, Tiffany Lenau of Petoskey, Dana Bolton of Florida, Randi Cornell of Newaygo, and Michelle Nanninga of California; many nieces and nephews; and her dog and faithful companion, Rowdy.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Nanninga and Emmanuel "Ace" Koehn; seven sisters, and two brothers.

A celebration of life will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Stanwood Buffalo Eagles 4360.

Memorial contributions may be made in Janets name to Spectrum Health Hospice.
