James "Jim" Walter passed away at his home in Paris on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the age of 62.
Jim was born on January 13, 1959 in Saint Johns to Edward and Nina (Davis) Walter. He was a member of the Chippewa Hills High School marching band which played at halftime at the Silver Dome. Jim graduated from high school in 1978. On August 6, 1994 he married Deb Gross and they raised their family in Paris. Driving truck was a passion of Jims. He drove for over 30 years.
Jim was a true outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. Playing golf, poker and riding his Harley were some of his favorite things to do. Jim was a jack of all trades, especially talented in woodworking and carpentry. He shared a birthday with a special nephew and Godson, Jeremy Newcombe.
Surviving are his wife Deb Walter of Paris; children, Jimmy (Raszuana) Walter of Mount Pleasant, Andrew (Ashley) Chupp of Big Rapids and Amanda Inosencio of Mecosta; sisters, Wanda (Terry) Staats of Weidman and Rosie (Richard) Wright of Alabama; sisters-in-law, Eloise Jason of Carson City and Janet Walter of Grand Rapids; brothers-in-law, Roger Williams Sr. of Sumner and Ronald Clouse of Saranac; six grandchildren, Ashiah, Jayden and Rhyker Walter, Andria and Ashlyn Chupp, Kristina Inosencia and two great-grandchildren, Zane and Zoey.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Chupp; four siblings, Ronald Jason, Lola Williams, Edward D. Walter and Linda Clouse.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 beginning at 1:00 pm at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Patrick Robinson officiating. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Crapo Cemetery in Green Township.
