IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Duane
Snavley
February 14, 1954 – February 5, 2025
James D. Snavley, age 70, of Remus, passed away unexpectedly due to Illness, Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
He was born February 14, 1954 in Reed City to Donald and Lavern (Benkert) Snavley. After graduating from Big Rapids High School in 1972, Jim made his living in the Tool and Die Trade where he fine tuned his skills to become a valuable asset to the companies he worked for and with in the Grand Rapids area. Jim dedicated 24 years to Dun-Rite Machine, exemplifying dedication and hard work every day.
An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved to hunt and fish. If you knew him you would understand. Much of his paycheck would go to Cabela's or Bass Pro, always joking that he kept them in business. When deer seasons came around, he would take a month-long vacation to sit in his blind from Dawn to Dusk awaiting the elusive whitetail. If you wished to speak with him, it was either by text or wait for his return from the fields. He truly lived by the phrase "Live to Hunt, Hunt to Live".
Jim was always a practical joker with a great sense of humor. If you were to pull something over on him, you had to always be prepared for something bigger and better to come back on you. Jim was very giving of his time, and would always lend a helping hand to family and friends when needed.
Jim is survived by his mother Lavern Snavley; Siblings, Richard (Shelly) Snavley, Darlene (Mark) Vanderhoef, Steve Snavley, Scott (Lisa Salvial) Snavley; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends known as "The Gang".
Jim was preceded in death by his father Donald.
Per Jim's wishes, he will be cremated and a private family gathering is scheduled for Spring 2025.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Jim's name to Big Brothers Big Sisters Mid Michigan, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts of Michigan, or Youth Hunter Safety Courses local to you.
