James J. Nastos, age 93, died peacefully Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in Newaygo. He was born October 10, 1927 in Bronx, NY, the son of Elias and Thea (Plakas) Nastos.
He served in the United States Navy, volunteering for WWII and was drafted for the Korean War. J.J. received two purple hearts and was honorably discharged in 1946. He loved to be outdoors and listen to classical music. He especially treasured the time that he spent with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Linda; son, Jerry (Jill) Bomay; daughters, Jodi (Brian) West, Bridget (Tony) Guttersohn; grandchildren, Rebecca (Nick) Benton, Garrett (Kayla) Bomay, Natalie West, Monica (Brandon) West-Jones, Kyle Cordes; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
J.J. was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Nastos; and sister, Harriet Mason.
