Obituary

James "Tony" Anthony McCoy Sr. of Hersey went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 14, 2022. He was born March 12, 1954 in Benton, Kentucky and was blessed with having a big sister, Vicki. In 1973, he met the love of his life Becky at Fairview Baptist Church and on June 7, 1974 they were married. Tony loved staying busy with his family. While his kids were growing up, he was famous for working the long jump pit at track meets, making animal sounds, and making jerky. Playing video games with his sons and watching chick flicks with his daughter are some of the best memories. Tony was a deacon at church, and was a member of the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief of Michigan team. He always made time for his grandchildren. Playing World of Warcraft with Zoe, board games with Jamie, watching Kyleigh play volleyball, and watching cartoons and coloring with Emmett and Avery. Tony would always tell you about how his wife played the most beautiful piano, he would talk your ear off about University of Kentucky basketball (UK all the way), how much he loved Jesus and being a McCoy. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Becky; children, Jim (Heather) of Peabody, Jamie (Jeremy) of Hersey, Will (Alex) of Hersey, Larry of Sterling Heights; grandchildren, Zoe, Jamie, Kyleigh, Emmett, Avery, Brandon, Dylan, Jackson, and Lincoln; his extras he took in and counted as family; "bonus" kid, Chris; his "token Hatfield," Sindy; and so many nieces and nephews who meant the world to him. A celebration of life will take place 1:00 p.m. at Charity Baptist Church in Paris on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to time of service. Luncheon will follow after the celebration of life. Officiating, Pastor Dave Westover and Pastor Terry Wilson.
