James "Jim" C. Hoffman, age 81, died peacefully Wednesday, May 18, 2022 in Big Rapids. He was born March 27, 1941 in Berne, Indiana, the son of Ralph and Evelyn (Biberstein) Hoffman. Jim had a passion for helping others. He spent many hours helping build houses for Habitat for Humanity in the United States and out of country. Jim enjoyed gardening and landscaping and took pride in how his lawn was maintained. One of his favorite hobbies was watching the birds enjoy his many feeders in his yard. Jim spent many hours reading, especially his bible and listening to Christian music. He is survived by his children, Sandy (Mike) Higley of Reed City, Earl (Kristi) Hoffman of Big Rapids, Randy (Myra) Hoffman of Florida, Ann Hoffman of Ohio; four siblings; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great child on the way; many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made in Jims name to Mecosta County Habitat for Humanity or Hope House Free Medical Clinic. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
