IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Cox
March 7, 1952 – February 11, 2026
James Cox, 73, of Big Rapids, passed away on February 11, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1952, in Big Rapids, the son of Donald and Audrey (Cooper) Cox.
On March 1, 1975, Jim married the love of his life, Sharon Reeves. She preceded him in death in 2025. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of wedded bliss, building a partnership and bond that touched everyone around them. Their love was the foundation of a family cherished by many.
Jim worked as a computer technician for Meijer and later helped operate Sharon’s Country Restaurant in Roger’s Heights. In recent years, Jim was proud to grow in his faith and devotion to Christianity. Following the loss of his wife, he leaned into his faith and helped lead GriefShare, offering comfort and support to others experiencing the loss of a loved one. He was active in his church community at Resurrection Life (ResLife), where he formed many meaningful friendships.
He loved his winter trips to Florida, hunting, and was a talented musician. Jim was a member of the band, Braum’s Fantasy. He will always be remembered for his classic jokes — quick-witted and ready with humor, he could lighten the mood in any setting.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lisa Cox and James (Debi) Cox; grandchildren, Amanda (Charlie), Michael, Bailey, Shaun (Kimberly), Tasha (Chad), and Matthew (Anne); great-grandchildren, Quinn, Liam, Lakota, Kinsley, Dylan, Alyssa, Nathan, Travis, Jovie, Ethan, Adrien, and Mathilda; his sister, Donna Croad; sister-in-law, Deanna (Jeff) Waber; brother-in-law, Buddy Confer; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, February 27, 2026, 12:00 noon at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. A luncheon will follow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5-7:00 P.M. at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. He will be laid to rest at Highlandview Cemetery, Big Rapids.
