James Cooley, 84, of Stanwood, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones, on June 21, 2025, shortly before his 85th birthday.

He was born on June 23, 1940, the son of Melvin and Wanda (Lefler) Cooley.

James was a hard worker, enjoyed music, and loved his family. James built his own world and loved the world that he built. Every year he anticipated the annual Jimmy Jam, his own Bluegrass Festival. James celebrated life any chance he got. He and Linda hosted any occasion. He was friends for life with anyone he met.

James is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Cooley; children: David Cooley, Robert (Peggy) Cooley, and Sandra (Allen) Wolfe. Grandchildren: Nathan, Shane, Chelsea, Jenna, Elijah, Isis, Devin, Becca, Ranen, Ranessa, Mike, Travis, Elicia, Mariah, Kendan, and Morgan; as well as 29 great-grandchildren; siblings: Jerry (Connie) Cooley, Janice Harris, Jean Sutherland, Melvin Cooley Jr., Jack (Jill) Cooley, Kenny (Darla) Cooley, and Terry (Betty) Cooley); Brothers and sisters in-law: Gerry Curtis, Betty Nelson, Larry Lenon, Dan Lenon, and Connie Settlemyre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as four siblings: Linda Cooley, Roxanne Perron, Randy Cooley, and Fred Cooley.
