James Lee Clark, age 78, of Remus went home to be with his Lord Saturday, April 18, 2009 with his devoted family at his side. He was born in Lansing, on May 27, 1930 to Arden and Helen (Forgar) Clark. On September 8, 1951 Jim married Ruth E. Haight in Remus. He soon entered the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge Jim was employed at Karber Gravel in St. Johns as a diesel auto mechanic until his retirement in the 80's. For a short time Jim and Ruth lived in St. Johns before making there home in Remus on the family homestead where they have lived ever since. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post in St. Johns, REACT in Mecosta Co. and the Mecosta County Sheriff's Posse for a number of years. He was a John Deere enthusiast and spent a great deal of time working on his John Deere tractors. He enjoyed wood working and tinkering around. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Ruth of Remus, three children; Rick Clark of Charlotte, TN, Vicky (Kevin) London of Stanwood, Tammy (Eric) Flowers of Remus, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1brother Elden, 1 sister and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Jim was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Jim will take place today (Monday) at 2:30 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with the family greeting friends two hours prior from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations in Jim's name can be left at the funeral home.
