James "Andy" Andrews, age 68 of Morley, passed away Wednesday, December 05, 2007 at his home. He was born December 26, 1938 in Grand Rapids to John and Sadie (Quick) Andrews. Andy enlisted in the United States Air force. He was honorably discharged following 4 years of service in the Korean War. Andy returned from the war and soon began his career with C. & O. Railroad. He retired in 1993. Andy was also a member of the Rockford Fire Department and was the assistant Fire Chief for the last 10 of his 20 years of service. In addition Andy served as a paramedic for the Rockford Ambulance service. He was a dedicated member of the V.F.W. Post #3306 of Howard City, holding many offices, including Post Chaplin. Andy's hobbies included hunting and fishing, which he dearly loved. He is survived by; His loving wife, Bess Andrews of Morley Three sons; James White of Grand Rapids Joe (Dawn) White of Wyoming, MI John Andrews of Grand Rapids 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren a brother; John (Betty) Andrews of East Flat Rock, NC 2 sisters; Mary (Ken) Rydeski of Greenville Betty Croff of Florida and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Philip Bongard officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 7th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Spring interment and military honors will take place at the Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley. Memorial contributions in Andy's memory may be made to the V. F. W. Post # 3306 in Howard City.
