Jalaine Louise Rondeau, age 94 of Paris, formerly of Jenison, passed away Wednesday April 17, 2024 in Grandville, where she had resided for the past few years. She was born September 29, 1929 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Russell and Virjanet (Marlin) West. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sherry Mercer of Colorado, Laurie and Doug Coeling of Wyoming, MI, Kimberly Rondeau of Jenison, Steven and Maryann Rondeau of Jenison; her five grandsons, Simon and Brian Head; Austin, Kyle and Gavin Rondeau; four great-grandchildren, Eastin, Adriana and Callie Rondeau and Torryn Head; one brother, Richard West; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Gordon Rondeau, her son, Russell Rondeau and a brother, Jerry West. Jalaine lived a fulfilling life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an amazing mother of 5 and also found time to work at the Jenison Meijers as a bakers assistant for many years. It was evident that Gordon and Jalaine loved each other very much. She made the Jenison family home a very loving one and with her husbands soft demeanor and their kind hearts, they grew the family together. She loved sports and could impress with her historical knowledge of the Detroit Tigers. She always looked forward to watching the Tigers and Lions, especially with her brothers, and football was always on the TV every Sunday. She also loved quilting and sewing. Her dry humor could make a room chuckle and her kind, loving demeanor will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends. A funeral service will take place 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the Reverend Jeremy Wicks officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Jalaine will be laid to rest next her husband Gordon at West Cemetery near Paris.
