Obituary

Jack A. Tinker, age 65 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, July 8, 2007 at his home. He was born February 14, 1942 in Petoskey to Grant R. and Bernice A. (Boyce) Tinker. Jack moved to Big Rapids as a young man to make his home. He retired from Ferris State University after 31 years of employment. Jack was very active in the community, he was a volunteer fireman for Mecosta Township, a member of the Mecosta County Sheriff posse, served as a trustee on the Mecosta Township board and was a Deacon for the Rogers Heights Christian Church, where he was a member for over 40 years. He is survived by: His wife Carol Tinker of Big Rapids Three daughters; Rhonda (Vincent) Mmari of Lansing Robin Tinker of Big Rapids Renel (Greg) Groenink of Hudsonville Three Grandchildren Three Step-children; Sue Doxtater Becky (Lenny) Vaughan Matt (Jodi) Doxtater all of Big Rapids Four Step-grandchildren Two brothers; Mel Marine of Pensacola, FL Duane Tinker of Grand Rapids A sister; Arlene (Virgil) Armstrong of Grand Rapids A sister-in-law; Nancy Tinker of Rockford and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother Robert Gene Tinker. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14th at the Rogers Heights Christian Church, 19938 Park Road, with Frank Hicks officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions in Jack's name may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
