Jack J. Robinson, former Mecosta County Drain Commissioner, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 in Mt. Pleasant at the age of 75. Jack was born July 23, 1932 to Lewis "Crow" and Beatrice (Woodbury) Robinson. He was born and raised in Barryton graduating from the Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1950 as President of the class. Jack was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He was a well known excavator in the area for numerous years. Jack became the Mecosta County Drain Commissioner in 1973 retiring in 1995. He was on the Mecosta County Park Commission and for over 30 years he was instrumental in operating the transfer station in Fork Township which continues to this day. Jack is a lifetime member of the Michigan Association of County Drain Commissioners. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing and grilling for others. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years Sharon (Miller) Robinson of Mt. Pleasant, his loving children: Kim (Denise) Robinson of Barryton Vicki Robinson of Weidman Christy (John) Jamieson of Barryton Paul (Kamala) Robinson of Barryton Shelly (Doug) Randle of Clare Three step children: Colleen Bush of Barryton Michael (Linda) Lamontagne of Mecosta Sherri (Richard) Pomranky of Mt. Pleasant one sister Lucille Thomas of Fla., sixteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, special member of the family Terry (Annette) Stanley of Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides Jack's parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dolores on November 15, 1970, three sisters: Beatrice, Marjorie and Mary, three grandchildren and one stepson. Funeral services for Jack will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2007, at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with military honors. A committal service will follow at Flake Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9th at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Jack's memory may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
