Obituary

Jack Marlette age 84, lifelong resident of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 30, 2006 at his home in Big Rapids. He was born September 25, 1922 in Deerfield Township to Ralph and Myrtle (Chipman) Marlette. Jack was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during World War II. For over 50 years, Jack had a long and prestigious career as an account representative for Michigan Cigar Company of Big Rapids. He is survived by; his loving wife of 63 years; Catherine of Big Rapids Daughters: Cheryl (Glen) Ward of Big Rapids Candie (Mike) Poumade of Annadale, VA Mary Ann (Tim) Fohey of Lansing Six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren One brother; Ralph Leo Marlette 2 sisters: Marilyn Chart and Lorraine Lavengood and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Franklin and Dick Marlette. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Jack's grandson; Father James Poumade officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack's name may be made to Hospice of Michigan or St. Mary's Catholic Church of Big Rapids.
