Jack F. Kaufman, age 95 of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011. He was born October 24, 1915 in Bangor, Michigan the son of Harold and Della (Delaney) Kaufman. Jack graduated from Ann Arbor High School and later attended business school earning his Associates Degree. He married Marion Sark on February 14, 1942. Jack was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during World War II. In 1949 the family moved to Big Rapids where Jack and Marion operated a boarding house for Ferris students. For many years Jack worked in the real estate and insurance business; in the late 1960's he took a position as the Big Rapids City Assessor. Following his retirement from the city, Jack and Marion made their home in Lakeland Florida. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids and the Knights of Columbus. Jack is survived by his loving family, including his 4 children; Judith Ann (Robert) Andrews of Horsehead Lake, Nancy E. (Ron) Ragland of Crystal Beach, FL, Richard E. (Therese) Kaufman of Traverse City, Mark C. Kaufman of Spring Lake, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Marion in 2002 and 2 brothers, Ronald and Kenneth Kaufman. A mass of Christian burial will take place 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Saturday, July 23rd at St. Paul's Campus Parish in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Jack's name may be made to a Cancer Fund of the donor's choice.
