Jack L. Fetterley, age 80 passed away peacefully, surrounded by his four daughters, on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at his home. A lifelong resident, Jack was born in Big Rapids on April 15, 1936 the son of Otto and Vesta (Kershner) Fetterley. He graduated from Big Rapids High School and served in the United States Airforce until his honorable discharge. Jack was employed by Giant Supermarkets for over 30 years and later by Carters Grocery until he retired. Jack served as a volunteer for the Big Rapids Fire Department for several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many years of camping, bowling, being in the sun and spending time with his daughters (Jacks Girls). Jack will be sadly missed by his dear friends at Szots in Big Rapids and forever loved by his family of four daughters, Shelly (Art) Sullivan of Iowa, Leanne (Bob) Souter of Sparta, Jackie (Brian) Bennitt of Grant, Dionne (Jeff) Berenbrock of Kent City; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Ashley, Alexander, Erika, Sasha, Cody, Courtney, Allie, Abbie; seven great-grandchildren and two nieces. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Gertrude Terwillegar, Juanita Brockelbank, Maxine Williams and one nephew. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, August 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. A memorial service will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24th also at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Kaye Patton officiating. Memorial contributions in Jacks name may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
