Jack A. Chapin, 73, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 3, 2021 at his home in Morley. He was born in Grand Rapids on March 23, 1948, the son of James and Lorraine (Beals) Mulder.
Jack graduated from Rogers high school in Wyoming, MI in 1967. The following year he was drafted into the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He shot "expert" on rifle and machine gun. Jack was honorably discharged in 1970. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid reader of the Mack Bolan series and Louie LAmour westerns. Jack always put others' needs and feelings before his own. He never went anywhere without making a new friend.
Jack is survived by his son, Cody Chapin of Morley; daughters, Kisa and Jaden Chapin of Morley; ex-wife, Tanja (Dwayne) Frederick of Morley; and many friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jack Chapin II.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, July 9, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. A time for sharing will begin at 7:30 p.m.
