Iola B. Cummings age 91 of Barryton went home to be with her Lord on March 11, 2010 at Cedar Crest AFC Home in Remus. She was born August 15, 1918 in Fork Twp., MI to Floyd and Anna Mae (Dempsey) VanSyckle. Iola graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1937 where she was a member of the choir, participated in school plays and was her junior class president. On October 15, 1938 she married Dale Cummings and they made their home in various towns as his job demanded. Barryton was always "home" . Dale and Iola moved back to Barryton permanently in 1982. She was a life member of the Free Methodist Church and former Sunday School teacher. Iola enjoyed wintering in Florida for 22 years. Before her health declined she looked forward to canning, crocheting, quilting and Swedish weaving. Iola was grateful for the care she was given at Cedar Crest AFC and dearly loved her church and her family. Iola leaves three sons: Gale (Patricia) of Barryton, Bruce (Marlene) of Rodney, Vernon (Linda) of St. Clair, 8 Grandchildren; Brent (Katherine) Bazaire, Kim Godden, Lora (Alan) Sherman, Chris (Eugene) Denning, Dennis Cummings, Tamara Holsworth, Darin (Lisa) Cummings and Amanda (Mike) Daldine, 18 Great-grandchildren, 6 Great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and close friends who will treasure the memories they have. Besides Iola's parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dale on August 7, 1994, brother; Dale VanSyckle, sister Leone White and Great-grandson Collin Daldine. The family will greet friends tonight (Saturday) from 6:00 p.m. "" 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Funeral services for Iola will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Daggett Funeral Home with interment following at Flake Cemetery.
