Ina Christensen, age 100 of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at her home. She was born February 18, 1909 in Detroit to Niels Peter and Mathilde (Knudsen) Andersen. Ina was very proud of her Danish Heritage; she had been a member of the Danish Sisterhood Lodge #125 of Detroit since 1927. She enjoyed gardening and working on her needle point. Ina was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. She is survived by her son Norman (Doreen) Christensen of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughter, Kara (Kurt) Bell and great-grandchildren; Emily and Zane all of Washington, Missouri; many nieces, nephews and friends and neighbors who shared many coffee hours at her home including her special friends, Phyllis and James Lindsey who created a spot for Ina in their family and life. Besides her parents, Ina was preceded in death by her husband; Jens and all of her siblings. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14th at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids with Reverend Matthew Deames officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ina's name may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Stained Glass Window Fund.
