IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ignatius
Konrad

Ignatius (Iggy) John Konrad Jr.
3/6/1948 – 12/20/2025
"There once was a man from Lansing, M.I.,
Who spent seventy-seven years giving things a hard try.
With two kids and a wife,
He loved the good life,
Cursing golf balls that dared not to fly."
Hailing from Lansing, Michigan, he was a proud graduate of Michigan State University and a lifelong Spartan at heart, GO GREEN!!! That MSU pride showed up in his loyalty, his competitive streak, and his unwavering belief that he was usually right. He carried himself with confidence, a quick wit, and a sense of humor that made everyday moments more entertaining—sometimes whether people were ready or not.
He spent the bulk of his life in Big Rapids as a devoted husband to Cindy Konrad that he wed on May 23rd of 1970. Also a proud father of two, Karin Konrad and Ignatius Andrew (Zoe Chen) Konrad, and Grandfather of Victor and Rosie Konrad. Predeceased by parents Ignatius John Konrad Sr and Doris Konrad, and brother Mark Konrad. He didn't always express affection in sentimental ways, but his love was unmistakable in his reliability, his presence, and his willingness to show up—often armed with advice, sarcasm, or both. Family gatherings were never dull when he was in the room.
A man of many hobbies, he was always engaged in something that caught his interest, though golf held a special place in his heart. On the course, he was passionate, determined, and famously vocal when the game failed to cooperate. Though short in stature, he made up for it with a larger-than-life personality, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, stories, and love that will be retold for years—likely with a few creative flourishes and the occasional well-placed curse.
In loo of (he always enjoyed a pun) flowers please make a donation to Project Starburst Food Pantry at 120 South State Street, Big Rapids, Michigan 49307, or The Nature Center at The Great Outdoors at 400 Nature Center Trail, Titusville, Florida, 32780.
